Registering your club or organisation is easy. Just enter the details requested in each box.
In the ‘Description’ box it’s best to start with a short sentence that says a little about your club or organisation. Most importantly, make sure it’s likely to grab the attention of the people you want to attract. Imagine you’re writing the headline to a newspaper article. For example, if you run a book club you might start with something like, “If you like reading books we know you will like us”. We will pick up this ‘headline’ and use it on the page where people will search for clubs and organisations. For this reason it’s worth spending a few minutes to get it right.
Then go on to tell the readers a little bit more. But remember, there is no need to tell them everything. Later you are going to give them a link to your website or your Facebook page or simply where and when you meet so you just need to give the readers enough information to want to find out more.
You might want to finish with “Please have a look at our website for more information” or “We are a friendly bunch and we would love to welcome you at our next meeting”.
Carefully picking your words will give readers a clear idea about who you want to join; so, “Does your daughter dream of being a footballer?” lets readers know yours is a girls’ team without having to spell it out. “We welcome girls aged 5-13 who want to have fun while they learn the skills of the game” might let readers know a little more about the aims of your club.
You get the idea. And if you want a little help to put this all together just email us using the email address on the ‘AboutAskKinver’ page.
